If you're headed for Negril, Jamaica, make sure to consider CocoLaPalm
as your destination. My wife and I just returned from a week there,
and we were impressed.
First, the hotel comes at a bargain compared with others on the beach,
and for reasons I will describe in a moment. As I far as I know, CLP
doesn't offer all-inclusive packages, and that is a winning point.
Save your money and spend it on the local spots, not at a breakfast
bar with a bunch of other tourists.
Second, CocoLaPalm is situated perfectly on Seven Mile Beach. It sits
almost in the middle, in close proximity to town (but not too close),
other hotels, reggae nightclubs on the beach, and restaurants. The
other, tonier resorts like Sandals, Beaches, and Hedonism are situated
too far to the north, making a cab ride to town or the cliffs an
expensive proposition (don't underestimate cab fares in Jamaica.... or
maybe we just got fleeced).
Third, CocoLaPalm has the most inviting beach bar/restaurant on the
beach, bar none. The other hotels seem darker and less welcome,
whereas CLP's is well lit and guarded constantly by a security
company.
Finally, the grounds are beautifully kept, the rooms are nice, and the
staff is overly warm and helpful.
In conclusion, check out CocoLaPalm. We recommend it highly!
Thanks to Matt for this trip report ...
