Feb. 11, 2005 - Feb. 18, 2005 - Hilton Ocean Front Room - great accommodations. The landscaping and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The property is well spread out and offers various beach and pool locations overlooking the ocean. Diving with the on-site shop Seascapes was magnificent. The reefs and coral are very healthy in Curacao and the shore dive from the Hilton had much to offer and was abundant with marine life. The Hilton is about 10-15 minutes from the airport and about 10-15 minutes from town. A daily shuttle service is offered twice per day or a taxi can be taken for approximately $12. The restaurant at the Hilton was pricey. Hook's Hut is next door and The Lagoon restaurant in two doors down and has a large menu with cheap to moderate prices. We ate their twice and enjoyed each meal. The Marriott is next door to the Hilton and has delicatessen for sandwiches; pizza can be ordered and it also offers a pasta bar for $10/person. Ice cream and drinks can also be purchased there. We rented a Jeep for $56 per day and explored the Western end of the island which provided wonderful scenery and we visited many beaches along the way. We visited Otrabanda and shopped and ate twice at Ay Caramba - very good at reasonable prices.
Curacao is at the top of our vacation destintations. We have visited Aruba, Grand Cayman, Belize, Cozumel, Cabo San Lucas, and Cancun in the past.
Thanks to Penny for this trip report ...
