Turks & Caicos Islands - Trip Reports

Allegro Resort, Provo

I just came back from a week at the all inclusive Allegro Resort in Turks & Caicos. A more beautiful beach I challenge you to find. We unfortunately experienced what we were told was an unusual for the island a huge mass of small coke bottle cap sized jelly fish. Billions of them. Dark clouds of them littering what would normal be a beautiful turquoise ocean. They normally come for a week around easter. They have been infesting these waters for 6 weeks now. Too bad. The resort is quite nice the rooms very clean and more than adequate but the attitude of the staff really sucked. They were off-standish and not at al interested in servicing the Hotel guests. Yhis was an opinion shared by almost all the guests who were very eager to fill out their comment cards. In speaking to the management I was told they just took over the resort and they are working on changing the overall attitude of the staff.

The food was quite good and there is a cute cheesey casino on sight. The entertainment staff ( equivalent to the G O's in a Club Med were very friendly and made every effort to engage the people in the resort in group activities. Unlike Club med however you do not feel compelled to be a part of things if you do not want to be. Our only other complaint is that the resort did not provide enough umbrellas or areas of shade for the guests that were staying at the hotel. We were forced to get up at 6:00 a.m. (a time I do not even rise here at home) to secure an umbrella by placing our towels on them. Hope they can do something about bothe the jelly fish and the staff. It is a beautiful place.

Thanks to Hope for this trip report ...
