The Bahamas - Trip Reports

Grand Bahama Island

Came home ll/2. Thanks, Danny for your help. We stayed at Our Lucaya for the first night. They upgraded us twice. Had a fifth floor room overlooking pools and beach. Saw the sunrise. Just a note: tips are included, even for baggage handling. Anyone who wants to eat at Fatman's Nephew...tell them little Tracey sent you! As my handicapped daughter is an aspiring chef, she asked for the recipe for Johnny Cake. The following morning Stanley (Sr.) gave her a cooking lesson! It was very wonderful of him. So try the Johnny Cake.

Highlights of the trip were Club Caribe and Paradise Cove. They both come to get you (C.C. for just buying your lunch there... conch fritters and conch chowder are the best!!) ( P.C. actually taught an old lady ME to snorkle). Airtran was great with no delays, 1/2 full planes and upgraded us twice to business class. All in all this was one of my best trips to GBI in 20 years.

The only bad part was that Bahamia looks like a total war zone. I doubt that it will be ready in Dec. That's just a month away. Even the casino looked like a bomb hit it.

Ladies, go to the perfume factory and make your own. My daughter had made some 9 years ago. They keep the recipe.. since she was actually allergic to the cassia in it, they adjusted her recipe (without charging the $30 to make a scent) and she made a cream for only $5. How's that for a deal?

Now, I better unpack, been home for a week , but still reveling in the good experience.

Thanks to Pat for this trip report ...
