Cuba - Trip Reports

Maritim Costa Verde

This was my first trip to Cuba, and it will not be my last!!

Six of us (all women) spent the week of April 16th to 24th at the Maritim Costa Verde. I'm only going to speak for myself (but I'm sure they'll agree). We flew in from Halifax late Friday evening.

Check in was a breeze with the reception staff accomodating us by assigning rooms close together.

The rooms themselves are a little confusing to find after a 4 hour flight, but once you figure out the layout of the resort it is quite simple. The resort was clean and well maintained with an amazing display of flowering plants. The gardeners worked from sun up to sun down (especially Odell who was ready with a good morning smile and wave each day).

The pool was great although the early risers marked their lounge chairs making it difficult to find one later in the day. The beach was awesome, a little rocky but that made for great snorkelling. Make sure you take some buns from the buffet to feed the fish.

The food was amazing. Great variety, and all well prepared. Definitely, something for everyone.

The staff was phenomenal. From the maids who left artfully crafted swans made from towels and blankets each day, to the bartenders (hey Carlos, Maximilliano, and Alexander) to the waiters and waitresses. The entertainment team was absolutely incredible. Putting on nightly shows, teaching left-footed Canadians how to Salsa, teaching Spanish and organizing various other activities.

If you make it to the Maritim Costa Verde make sure to say a big hello to Yordanis (Jordan) and Grisel, two of the very hard working animacion team. They truly made my stay a special one. I would certainly recommend this resort and will return myself soon. If you have questions, I'll gladly try to answer them.

Thanks to Cathy (New Brunswick, Canada) for this trip report ...
