Cuba - Trip Reports

Superclubs Breezes Varadero

My Husband and I went to Breezes Varadero in August 1999 for our honeymoon and returned in May 2000 for a vacation. The fact that we returned says it all. We had a fantastic time, the both times we went! Breezes Varadero is a wonderful resort! I highly recommend it to anyone! I remember when we were walking around the resort, I felt like I was in a beautiful garden or paradise! The gardens are so clean and well kept.

The beach is absolutely breathtaking! It has white powdery sand and crystal clear turqoise waters. There are no rocks in the water. Just soft white sand. The pool is huge!

The weather was great both times we went. But in August it was very hot, but bearable. When we went in May, there were no mosquitos at night. However, in August you couldn't go out at night without putting bug spray or you would literally get eaten alive! Once you had bug spray though you were fine. A small inconvenience.

The food was amazingly great for Cuba. There are four restaurants. There is the buffet restaurant, the italian and cuban restaurant(both a la carte with reservation). Then there is the beach grill. All the restaurants are fantastic. The buffet restaurant had a wide selection with very tasty food. The beach grill becomes a restaurant at night(with reservations) where you eat outside. They served amazing steak and shrimps to die for! They even had A1 sauce. If you go, be sure to make a few reservations at the evening beach grill.

The 5 bars have a wide selection of drinks and the coffee is amazing. They even have espresso and cappuccino!

The rooms are very spacious with a king size bed, the rooms are very clean. The bathroom is complete with hairdryer and biday. We stayed in a junior suite. We were offered a suite on our honeymoon, but we preferred the junior suite because it was one big room rather than a smaller bedroom with a seperate living room as the suites were.

The nightly entertainment was great. I was impressed with how many languages the entertainers spoke (english, french, italian, german and of course spanish).

They had lots of activities during the day such as aerobics on the beach and pool(aquasize) volleyball on the beach and pool, and games where you could win prizes such as rum. The "Cuban Day" is fun.

They have numerous water sports, like scuba diving, water skiing, kayaks, katamarans...All included!

We had a memorable experience!! That's why we returned. I highly recommend this resort to everyone! Great for honeymoon or just a vacation. I would love to be on that beautiful beach right now, sipping a cappuccino or a strawberry daiquiri!!! I hope to return again someday.

Thanks to Mary for this trip report ...
