We had a great time on our vacation. The highlight of the trip for our 18 year old daughter was definitely swimming with the dolphins........and being kissed by a sea lion.
The hotel was very nice although we stayed in the villas. Whether you are booked for the hotel or the villas you have the choice of eating at either buffet restaurant. The pool at the hotel was a bit nicer and deeper than the one for the villas although the villa pool was quieter.
The beach is lovely. There is a boardwalk down by the beach that goes down to a public beach that would be great if you have small children. It is in a small cove and the waves are not as big and it is shallower further out......the only thing is if you want to spend time at this beach you have to pay for a chair. A walk down to this beach is well worth it. At the far end of the beach....past the Atlantico Hotel .....there is a fellow who is carving an old tree trunk.....absolutely amazing. He is doing it all in fish and sea creatures.......a definite MUST SEE. If you go up the stairs at the Atlantico and stay to the right you will come to a craft market that is there daily.
There are mopeds and horseback riding available right in front of the hotel. I rented a moped one afternoon and went to see the "real Cuba". The scenery in this area is the nicest that I have seen in Cuba.
We checked out the "de Luna" and the "de Mares" while we were there and did not think much of the beach.......and everyone there was bitten up by bugs at night.....apparently they were built on a swamp. This was our 6th time to Cuba and I liked this place the best!
Thanks to Dave for this trip report ...
