The wife and I decided to take a quick trip to Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay the second week of January as we had free air fare from a bump, and they put us up at Sunset Beach for the night. Upon arrival we had to wati for our room to be readied, which was fine. We were toi have an ocean front room. We returned at 3 and received the room. It was on the 4th floor and did overlook ocean, Itook ocean front to be right on ocean. They quickly informed me when I inquired how wrong I was. Upon seeting on the foot of the bed that is was broken and almosted flipped over on me. When luggage finally arrived, I told him I wanted to move becasue of the bed, he called desk and they said no, they would fix it. And they did on Jamaican time. But it was done. Only had two hand towels and bath towels per day. Never had any ice in the room for cold water. It was never left even in the water pitcher. We had to inquire on how to get beach towels. We were referred tothe front desk and they were very rude in telling me that I had not provided a credit card number, I was quick to inform you folks do the check in, you should tell us what information is needed. The resort does need renovations as do most in Jamaica. It was clean. The au natural beach was well kept where we spent most of our time. It is too bad that you do not have any staff to wait on you for drinks as other resorts do, you must go and retreive your own. And is is a walk formn the beach we spent time at. Some of the staff did not like the idea that I had a large cup for my drinks, when I ask for a full beer they said the whold cup I said yes. One bartneder always waited on the females first no matter if you had been waiting and made no bones about telling you.
The wife and I are use to staying at Couples Ocho Rios as we are returning over Easter for our 8th trip. Guess we are spoiled, but Sunset Beach is a nice resort, just not to par with COR.
The food was ok, but need a larger place to make the ordered eggs. They are slow, very slow with coffee in the morning and to clean tables but I do remember this is Jamaica.
You, bet I would reccomend the resort for families and those going for a short stay. It did not meet my expectations, but I had been spoiled by COR. I would give it a 3 star rating. Not bad over all.
