We were there from April 13-28, 2002. It is a beautiful resort, everything you will need. Ocean, 4 pools, bars, 7 restaurants, ATM machine, internet, plenty of cabanas/chairs on beach, we never had to hurry and save chairs. We liked the idea of diner a la carte every night, we made reservations in the am, there are 2 seatings, 1 early and 1 late. We normally went to the late seating, after diner we took in the show, (beautiful dancers) and some nights after the show we went to the disco, it closed at 2 am and if we still felt like dancing we walked to the local Banana Bar(about 5 minute walk)it was opened all night. These people are beautiful dancers.
What I enjoyed most about my vacation was our excursion to the Indian Village, it was amazing. It is a 3 hour bus ride, and a 30 minutes canoe ride, but well worth it every minute. We ate with the Indians (they prepared the food), we danced with them and afterwards we could buy some of their work. It was an all day excursion but well worth it. They are such beautiful people, I felt their warmth deeply, it was a wonderful experience.
We also took the Ecocanal tour (by bus first and then by small motor boat), it was very interesting and amazing to sail alongside a tanker in the Panama canal, this was also a day long tour. We also went on a 1/2 day tour of the El Valle de Anthon, (garden and zoo) very nice.
All the guides on the tours we took were very knowledgible and interesting. These tours were booked with the Hotel.
I found all the Panamanians that I've met to be very kind and gentle people. They are all very energetic and always seem to be very happy. You can't help but love them all.
I truly felt love for that country and its people, I felt sadness when it was time to leave. It's always sad when a vacation ends but I have to admit that this was the worst for me so far.
The tourist industry is fairly new to Panama, just a few years, I truly hope that we as tourists will never spoil these beautiful people.
Thanks to Carol for this trip report ...
