Turks & Caicos Islands - Trip Reports

Beaches, Provo

Went to Beaches, Provo for our honeymoon. This is a great place if you have kids! We do not have any little ones as this is our second marriage. Well the first thing we tried to do was to get certified for a dive--no way--We were number 82 on the waiting list and this was a 7:00AM--needless to say we did not do that, so we decided to go for snorkleing---now number 84 on the list--we gave up.

They do not tell you that about 1/4 mile down the beach, they have a national park with a live coral reef under construction, that is just beautiful. I got to enjoy it--new huband could not make the trip--too far for older people to walk. Bring your own snorkles and fins if you have them--you have to wait in the long line to get them and you have to bring them back in an hour--not enough time..

Restaurants were really pretty good--just do not eat the lamb at Reflections--New husband did and ended up it food poisoning, which cost us a day's fishing on a charter that we still had to pay for...Did not get reemburst for it either--they told us some virus was going around that just last a few hours--yea right... Other than that--the water was beautiful, but for the $500.00 a day, we could have stayed in a very nice rental home or hotel and ate really well--especially at The Tiki Hut by the marina--best meal we had in the week we were there.

The locals were really much more genuine and friendly than the fake hotel staff. The staff was always friendly when you first walked into a restaurant, but try to get another coke... Like I said--if you have kids--it's great-but for honeymooning--GO SOMEPLACE ELSE!

Thanks to Lacy for this trip report ...
