Turks & Caicos Islands - Trip Reports

Arawak Inn & Grand Turk Diving

I just came back from Grand Turk and really liked it there. I spent a week of diving with 3 other, the weather was great and the diving was okay. We stayed at the Arawak Inn on the south end of the island, it had the best beach on the island. The only problem or hassell we had is the restaurant at the resort burnt down 4 weeks before we arrived. We were only a few minutes from town to get dinner. We went to the store early in the week to get some things for breakfast and lunch.

The rooms at the Arawak Inn were great- too good for dives. The rooms were set up with a small kitchenet, stove, microwave, coffee maker and fridge. You can save a few dollars if you bring in some food like we did.

The place had a good size pool but I loved the ocean that was at our feet. We had white sands beaches as for as we could see. We, the four of us had the resort to ourself- almost. Only 2 other couples were there at the place of 24 units. The bar open up on Wednesday and started to get hopping when we left on Saturday.

The diving was okay, we had been told it was a bad week but being from Michigan we were happy on what we had. If you don't care for water sports then Grand Turk isn't for you. There isn't anything else to do on the island if you don't dive. Small restaurant on the island the food was good at all places but it wasn't the cheapest place to eat for the week. Dinners started at $20, all the food on the island was expensive even at the stores.

Over all had a good time and wouldn't mind going back in a few years.

Thanks to Ray for this trip report ...
