Overnighted at this south coast resort on Barbados on November 1, 2003. The hotel is located on the southern tip of the island. It is a ten minute and US$10 taxi ride from the airport.
Rooms: We had a good room room with balcony. Room number 201 overlooking the beach. The room also had cable TV, fridge and safe. Actaully room was very good value for US$80 - which turned out to be US$100 after we had taxes added. The room was booked through all-hotels.com - fine print stated that "taxes were included" near the top of the agreement and that "taxes were not included" further down the page. I will be contacting about this as it is really misleading.
Beach: The beach here is quite lovely, good surf and nice sand. Even in November it was quite busy with both locals and tourists.
Restaurants: We didn't eat at Silevr Rock. We were recommended by local folks to try "fish fry" at Oistins. We ended up at the Fishnet where you get a good portion of fish (king, grouper and others on the menu), rice and peas or fries and vegetables. Approximately US10 - US12 dollars - well worth it for the food and the experience.
Guests: Mainly British vacationers.
Conclusion: Good all round. Recommend asking for any of the -01 rooms as they have a good view of the beach and sea. Nice location on a great beach. Recommend Oistins for local food. Only downside is that the hotel is quite remote from St. Lawrence Gap and other Bajan attractions. You will be dependent on the complimenatry shuttle bus offered by the hotel or renting a car.
Thanks to Ed for this trip report ...
