Our family just returned from the vacation of our dreams at Almond Beach Village the week prior to Easter. It's very hard to capsulize all the fantastic activities, food and services we encountered while in Barbados last week in a couple of paragraphs.
Our room was well furnished, clean and just large enough for the four of us, a feat in itself considering our 15 yr old son is 6'-4". but we didn't do much except sleep and change in the room anyways. My only issue is that we needed more bathroom space. We were always moving around the resort to different areas, but found the North pool (adults only - but fine for our 12 yr old daughter) to be our favorite location. It's also closest to the water sports hut which we used constantly.
The beach, though "rocky" (it's coral, idiots) was fantastic and we actually snorkled every day. Take the morning turtle cruise and you'll never forget it!!!
We found the staff to be great - once you got to know them - a hint most of the detractors of this resort will never comprehend!
We found a number of guests on the other hand (both Brits and US) to be rude, self centered and boorish. We also happened to be in Barbados during the Cricket tourney so maybe that accounts for some of the louts at the bars during the week. We did see one of the matches while there, still don't get it, - sorry -but thanks mate, to my tour guide Byron.
Food in general was at about the standard I would expect from an all inclusive resort, (we've been to some with more variety) something for everyone - but Dinner at the Italian restaurant is not to be missed!!! Molto bono!!
There were so many people with young kids there (at the South end Kids club especially) and all the parents we spoke to rated this resort as one of the best - other than Beaches - that they've ever been to. We always like to try new places each year, but by demand of my kids, we are putting ABV on the must return to list!
Thanks to Peter (Philadelphia, PA) for this trip report ...
